Help us raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis

The MS Wellness Run is back for 2019, so join us on Sunday 3 November to help raise funds for those living with multiple sclerosis and support local research. IHMRI has signed up as the supporting partner of this fun, local event, which coincides with the iconic MS Sydney to the Gong Bike Ride.

Based on 2018’s inaugural MS Wellness Run, we know that approximately 1,000 riders and 82% of runners were from the Illawarra.

Based on these statistics, we’re expecting almost 2,000 local people to participate in the events in 2019 and many of their family and friends to support them in Lang Park, Wollongong. So why not come along!

Join Team IHMRI!

Please email Kate Brett as soon as possible if you would like to participate in the 5 km or 10 km course as spaces are limited (IHMRI will cover your fee). The run/walk starts and finishes in WA Lang Park Wollongong.

Wear your IHMRI shirt and cap (provided) and show your support for local health and medical research. The 10 km run starts at 7:45 am and the 5 km run starts at 8:15 am.

Dr Yasmine Probst will be giving a talk on her research which is being funded by MS Research Australia.

Volunteers/supporters wanted!

IHMRI will once again have a tent in the MS Wellness Zone, which will house an abundance of fitness, health and wellbeing exhibitors. We are looking for volunteers to help with:

  • blood pressure checks for cyclists and runners/walkers (in two-hour stints),
  • handing out a nutritious snack to run participants,
  • selling fun IHMRI merchandise, and
  • handing out flyers.

If you are interested, we are also looking to allocate 1 hour slots where researchers can talk to interested members of the public about their research. These time slots will be advertised

If you are interested in any of these volunteering opportunities, please contact Kate at katebrett@ihmri.org.au.
