Research focus

Dr Harshad Ghodke studies molecular mechanisms involved in pathways that restore genomic integrity upon exposure to DNA damaging agents. He uses high-resolution fluorescence imaging methods to observe individual molecules in in vitro experimental setups as well as inside the living cell, to identify how DNA repair repair proteins interact with cellular transcription and replication machinery. Understanding these mechanisms expands his understanding of biology as well as provides insight that can be used to develop therapeutic strategies in diseases arising from genomic instability.
