Bake-Off proves great success

The third annual SMAH/IHMRI Bake-Off has brought in $330 for UOW’s MND Appeal, which launched last week.

Attendees made a donation to taste one of the twelve delicious treats and cast their vote. Three brave staff members volunteered to be iced if donations reached $300.

IHMRI’s Jean Marshall, and SMAH’s Chloe Rich and Ray Leung stood up to the ice bucket challenge.

Prizes were awarded for the best baked treat in three categories:

  • Best Sweet – Amy Hulme and Nick Marzano for their chocolate mousse and chocolate meringue cake
  • Best Savoury – Roza Dimeska with her feta scrolls
  • Best Presentation – Maria Schaarschmidt with her gingerbread cake

The bake-off was a collaboration between the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health (SMAH) and the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI).

Thank you to Chloe Rich for organising the event, to everyone who donated funds and to all the wonderful bakers!
